Free secondary DNS

Keep your domain online if your main nameserver goes down. Add usa.dotdns.uk as a nameserver and we keep an up-to-date copy of your zone from your primary server.

Before you sign up

  1. Allow zone transfers to us. On your primary nameserver, allow AXFR to 38.45.67.175 and 2001:550:5a00:b97a:0:0:0:1 and send NOTIFY there too, so changes reach us straight away. In BIND:

  2. Add us as a nameserver. At your registrar and as an NS record in your zone, add usa.dotdns.uk alongside your existing nameservers.
  3. Sign up below. We check that the domain lists us as a nameserver, that the primary IP belongs to one of your other nameservers, and that it lets us transfer the zone.

Good to know

Updating: changes on your primary reach us within minutes of a NOTIFY, or by your zone's SOA refresh time otherwise.

Changing primary IP: submit the form again with the new IP.

Leaving: remove usa.dotdns.uk from your nameservers. We delete the zone automatically after a few days.
